How to Choose an electric leaf blower
If you are looking for a cheap leaf blower that will still perform well at your home, the ones I have listed here are all going to do well… But before you choose one, I need you to think about what you are going to do with it.
First off, always choose a quality leaf blower based on amperage (amps) and not votage (volts). It is amps that will determine how
consistent the blower will actually put out. Keep in mind that a leaf blower is constantly pushing air. It needs to have constant “push” and amperage indicates the effective load.
Put it this way, voltage means nothing without proper amperage. On the flip side, if you have sufficient amps, the volts will take care of themselves.
With this in mind, how many amps do you need?
If you are just blowing off your driveway and sidewalks after cutting the lawn, then 7 amps will be just plenty! However, if you want a blower that is also a vacuum and will push leaves from the back yard and into the front, then you want a minimum of 12 amps and maybe more.
I do not recommend cordless blowers at all. They just do not have the power to perform. Trust me on this. Below are some of the more powerful electric leaf blowers that are available. You can see that the prices go up, but not that much. If you are in doubt and willing to spend the money, go with the 12 amp.
By the way, the whole “160 mph” or whatever they use to try to sell these things with, doesn’t mean anything. The speed of the air coming out of the blower means little when compared to the consistent performance it gives.
