Scotts Easy Seed Review – Is It Really EZ?

Scotts EZ Seed Review…

I get a lot of questions on growing grass seed, and many of you have asked me about Scott’s Easy Seed. (Scotts EZ Seed)

Does Scott’s EZ Seed Really Work Easy?

Guys, they ain’t lyin’ on this one… Scott’s Turf Builder Easy Seed will grow super easy! But wait, it ain’t a “set and forget” process…

There are three elements you need to grow grass seed… Scott’s EZ or not, you still need these three things to be successsful.

1) Water – I cannot stress enough the need to water your fresh grass seed that you plant. If you don’t get enough water to that dried up grass seed that your sprinkled out there, it just won’t grow. The good news, however, is that with the Scotts Easy Seed, they have a proprietary coating they apply that helps to retain moisture longer. What this means is that in many cases, you can rely on the rain and morning dew to get enough moisture close to the seed shell. This is a major leg up for you busy folks!

2) the second piece to the “growing grass seed” equation has to do with heat. This one is very important. you want daytime temps to be above 45 and never do you want temps below freezing. I don’t care what grass seed you are using, this one is a must. If those seedlings begin to germinate and then get hit with a hard freeze, they are done… EZ seed or not.

It is best to wait until the temps are averaging over 50 to seed, no matter where you live.

3) Finally, you need seed-to-soil contact. You gotta have somewhere for that seed to root into. I know they show pictures in the Scotts EZ Seed marketing materials where the stuff is growing on concrete blocks… and yes, Scotts Easy Seed will grow on concrete, but IT WILL NOT LIVE LONG! The fail to let you know that what you see in the pics is just temporary. Once the blades of those fresh seedlings grow tall enough to use up the fertilizer and moisture held in the special encapsulation, they will die die die!

But the point is still valid… that being that Scott’s EZ Seed will surely grow in tough conditions.

Do I recommend Scotts Easy Seed? yes, I do!
